The heritage of Express KCS goes back to the hand carving of wood blocks for poster advertising in the 1940’s. Express KCS’ immediate precursor was founded by a family that realized that the route to high-margin business with multinational clients was through an overseas education and direct experience of western business. A tradition has evolved therefore of sending staff to the UK and US at the beginnings of their careers. As a result, standards and aspirations have always been high, and innovation was always at the forefront of the company’s management development.
The company’s growth, had levelled off due to local market conditions when, following discussions with now-CEO Robert Berkeley, it was decided to create a separate entity solely for exploiting overseas markets in 2004. This new company, Express KCS, had grown out of a belief that highly skilled services from India can be effectively delivered via the internet to the most demanding sectors of western business.
Offshore initiative :
Informal soundings of the offshore market gave the company sufficient confidence in early 2004 to establish exploratory offices in both the UK and US to reach out to prospects, identify how internal processes needed to change, and assess the skills would be required by target clients. With the experiences drawn from this, internal operational practices have been totally re-engineered and the corporate structure adjusted to meet the needs of potential stakeholders.
From deep roots in the Indian graphic arts industry, the company is now servicing a variety of media-dependent businesses in the USA and Europe. Here we can offer a “deal that cannot be refused” in terms of price to quality ratio, while still maintaining a massive lead over other indigenous Indian competitors.
Current status : By early 2006 the offshore component of Express KCS had overtaken the local business. Later that year the Indian and UK entities were brought underneath a new Delaware-registered LLC which is now the group company. Our focus has sharpened onto the newspaper industry but we continue to market our services to the Global 1000 community and the print and premedia trade.
Express KCS now routinely work for some of the largest trade premedia companies in the US and Europe, creating artwork for brand owners such as Kraft, TetraPak, Diageo and publishers such as United Business Media and News Corp. Our breakthrough has come now where we have won our first client in the newspaper sector, and this is where our future direction is focused |
