News International moves magazine production offshore with Express KCS
“We’ve been working with Express KCS for over a year
now as they developed the Ella system”, says
News International’s Head of Corporate Development Andrew Perry-Smith, “and some advertising
clients are using it to produce print-ready PDFs from their browsers. Express KCS have been charged
to move more of them to the system, while still producing ads traditionally for those clients who either
wish not to use it, or whose needs are unsuitable for this kind of variable data production. We have seen
in this time that Express KCS have the technical and account-handling skills to enable us to improve
production times and make significant cost savings along the way.” He added, “News International is a
demanding client and Express KCS have usually exceeded our expectations.”

Robert Berkeley, CEO of Express KCS said that this deal proved the diverse skills needed to support a
client such as News International. “With this deal we’re bringing to bear skills in software development,
page layout and production and direct client management for copy chasing. Clearly, offshore premedia
services can be as sophisticated as anything available from local suppliers, as well as a good deal lower cost.
